The role

As a Trainee Financial Planner, you will be provided with a full training plan to support your development of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to provide high quality advice and outcomes for clients, promote the business and its Appointed Representatives, conduct client meetings, dictate accurate high level meeting notes and ensure all undertakings adhere to relevant FCA rules and regulations.

The role focuses on client communication, providing high-quality financial planning to our clients based on individual needs, and applying technical knowledge in specialist areas such as SIPP, SSAS and discretionary investment management. You will be fully supported in all aspects of pension and investment administration by our teams of account executives, alongside our typists who prepare all meeting notes for the client. You will promote the business and its Appointed Representatives in line with agreed business plans.

Key knowledge, skills and experience required

  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including English Language – Grade C or above
  • At least 3 years’ experience within a client facing role,
  • Working to KPI’s and quality standards.
  • Effective diary management to develop business and maintain high standards of customer service.
  • Ability to effectively manage a portfolio of clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to conduct client meetings and build long term relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated to set and achieve personal goals on a regular basis.
  • Active in/ownership of personal development through qualifications, industry training and continual ongoing reading.
  • Ability to problem-solve and provide tailored client solutions.

Remuneration and benefits

  • Salary – £25,000 – £35,000 gross per annum (Dependant on qualifications, knowledge, and experience)
  • Bonus scheme – split between Trainee/Developing Planner scheme for a period of 2 years, then onto the Financial Planners Reward Scheme
  • Car allowance
  • Life assurance – 2 x salary.
  • Pension – 5% employer contribution, increasing incrementally in recognition of service. Salary sacrifice scheme available.
